Well, they couldn't keep her under(ground) for long. Indefatigable British voiceover artist Emma Clarke lost her role as the Voice of the London Transport Tube system in a blaze of publicity last week. Now she's landed a new gig as the Voice of Sat Nav, downloadable onto cellphones.

Announcing the contract with CoPilot Live, Clark said Thursday: "The thought of getting more mileage from my voice by hopping from one mode of transport to another seemed rather fitting." The move will thrill her growing fan base, which includes a Facebook group called "Reinstate the Tube Voice Lady." Somehow I think Clarke's not one for turning. Wasting no time, she's already recorded some spoof instructions for sat nav. Unlike the spoof Underground announcements that brought her such notoriety (the resulting interest crashed Clarke's website), these have all been approved by her new bosses. They include: "If you hadn't bought such a cheap car, you could have caught up with him," and, "You drive like my dad on a Sunday." And here they are.

Meanwhile, Emma's London Tube catchphrase of "Mind the Gap" looks like morphing into the more personal, if more frustrating: "Turn Back".
