Sony's Reader, the prettier, cheaper, but EVDO-less alternative to the unavailable Kindle, now comes with another reason not to wait for Amazon to crank a few more white slabs out: 100 free e-books.

The offered titles are classics, not popular bestsellers or other recent works, but would normally sell for $200 in total, so it is, if nothing else, a great deal. How often is Sony the clear winner when it comes to value?
