The Comic Book Legal Defense Fund is hosting a cool series of holiday parties (New York, Los Angeles, Berkeley, Vienna, VA.) that will feature big casts of comics stars, gift bags, door prizes, auctions and special merch discounts for those who attend and sign up to support the cause.
The CBLDF does excellent work, such as its resent successful defense of Georgia comic store owner Gordon Lee (Picasso is Nude: Georgia Takes Legal Action), who was relentlessly prosecuted by local authorities after selling a copy of Nick Bertozzi’s graphic novel The Salon to a minor.
Confirmed guests for this Monday’s shindig in New York include Douglas Rushkoff, Moby, Paul Pope, Dan Goldman, Josh Neufeld, and many more. The Berkeley party takes place next Saturday at Comic Relief; L.A., Dec. 19, Golden Apple Comics; and Vienna, Dec. 27, Big Planet Comics.
