Oscar-winner Helen Mirren, who just picked up another gong for her stunning portrayal of the Queen – best actress at last night's European Film Awards – dressed down for her latest production, a 40-second film to aid the Third World. Mirren and other celebrities, including fellow Brit Helena Bonham Carter, are fronting a tongue-in-cheek appeal to promote Oxfam's Christmas Unwrapped campaign. The message is: Don't give useless presents, give something for the developing world instead. A $100 toilet, built on-site, is one of the top sellers. Others include fertilizer, tools and condoms. The underlying message is serious but the cast had such a blast making this film, there's an official outtakes video on YouTube. Incidentally, Oxfam's catalog lists the toilet by a U.K. euphemism, "bog." (Another, rather aptly, is "throne.")
