Blockbuster, still struggling to keep from being rendered irrelevant by Netflix, has changed its subscription pricing in an obvious move to compete with the mail-order DVD giant. The bottom line is:

  • Screwed: Subscribers to Total Access plans, which allow customers to get DVDs by mail and from Blockbusters stores. The top level is now $35 a month, up from $25. The next level down jumps from $22 a month to $30. Apparently those customers had the gall to take advantage of certain all-you-can-eat features of those plans.

  • Winners: Folks who don't like dealing with the outside world. Strictly mail-order plans are now $1 a month cheaper -- $4 for one DVD at a time, $16 for three at a time.
