You may be familiar with Mattias Adolfsson's Baroque illustrations of Star Wars [via Drawn!]. Steampunk was all the rage this year, which no doubt contributed to all the recent linkage. Yes, Adolfsson's retro-futuristic take on classic figures like Darth and R2 is pretty neat.
What's striking about the Swedish artist's drawings, though, is how completely fixated they are on the crotch zone.
Honestly, just check out Darth's hands (right). It's as if he's hiding something, no? Like maybe a possible lack there of?! Could that iconic, somewhat phallic dome be a way of compensating for something he lost in battle? (sorry, recovering humanities major at the helm here).
Maybe that's taking things too far. However, Darth isn't the only character who gets the "jimmy treatment" compliments of Adolfsson.
