On the heels of its slightly offbeat Cross Cabriolet Quattro concept, Audi reveals the very real A3 Cabriolet at the Bologna Motor Show. It seems to square off nicely with BMW's 1-series Convertible, with a pair of diesel engines and a pair of gasoline engines, including the 2.0-liter TFSI four from the U.S.-spec A3 five-door, with manual or dual-clutch S-tronic transmissions driving the front wheels. Set to reach European showrooms early next year, Audi has thus far made no mention of North American availability. The A3 hatchback hasn't exactly set the country ablaze so far, sales-wise, so Audi may be understandably cautious about going to the trouble of federalizing another variant, particularly one that seems more a match for the similarly sized (but better-equipped) Volkswagen Eos than it does the rear-wheel-drive 1-series.
