Love sometimes means knowing when to let go, and a new company called SecondRotation is there to help. The company buys up old gadgets -- phones, digital camera and camcorders, GPS receivers, game consoles and MacBooks -- for prices prices that won't make you rich but should reassure you they won't end up leaching toxic chemicals into Third World water supplies.

Sellers describe their used thingamajig on SecondRotation's Web site, get an instant price offer and ship it off if the deal sounds OK. SecondRotation then resells the items at a profit. Upshot seems to be that you'll make more but work harder selling your stuff directly on eBay, and truly old gear is still Goodwill fodder.
