While London's St. Pancras Station, revived for the new Eurostar service, has drawn gasps of admiration for its architecture, one of the train station's new landmarks, a giant bronze statue called "The Meeting Place," has divided the critics. Sculptor Paul Day's work is cleverly ambiguous – are the pair saying hello or goodbye? – and it's already becoming part of the public artscape in the casual way that Eros marks Piccadilly Circus.

Day had originally wanted the couple portrayed in his work to kiss. That idea was nixed, but the statue is already known by another name: "The Lovers." And a flash snog yesterday seems to seal it.
