Unlikely as it sounds, from the island of Malta comes the beefy KC-427 sports car, a reinterpretation of the classic Shelby Cobra from designer Reuben Zammit and his firm Racer X Design. Zammit expects to unveil an actual running prototype of the KC-427 next month, but in the meantime has released a trio of computer-generated renderings (which have the car looking perhaps uncomfortably similar to Carroll Shelby's misbegotten Series 1 roadster). Unlike the Oldsmobile-engined Series 1, however, the KC-427 will pack a 7.0-liter Corvette V-8, very likely tuned to produce a whole lot more horses than the Z06's 505. And lest you imagine this is nothing more than a young designer's flight of fancy, Racer X intends to build twenty KC-427s; Zammit has pledged to offer purchase rights to the first twenty people who show interest in the car, although there's no word yet on price.
