Sufjan Stevens To Trade Song Rights with Contest Winner

Calling all songwriters, bedroom musicians, laptop producers, and general enthusiasts of the Christmas holiday! If you write a Christmas-themed song and submit it as an MP3 to the Wyoming-based record label Asthmatic Kitty, you could be chosen by the label to exchange all rights to your song for the rights of the Christmas song Stevens himself is working on as well.

You will own his song, and Asthmatic Kitty will own your song, for real -- 100 percent of the sound recording and publishing rights will change hands.

Here's how it works:

Just like a gift exchange, Sufjan's song becomes yoursong. You can hoard it for yourself, sell it to a major soft drinkcorporation, use it in your daughter's first Christmas video, or shareit for free on your website. No one except Sufjan and you will hear hissong, unless you decide otherwise. You get the song and all legalrights to it. We get the same rights to your song.
