The band Ruby Isle has devised a clever way to have fun and attract listeners: covering the most popular song on the elbo.ws music blog scraper/search engine each week. The idea dawned on them earlier this month while they were working on their next album:

"Last Friday, Ruby Isle was in the middle of recording our new recordand were looking for some inspiration so we decided to take whatevertrack was number one on elbo.ws and cover it. It turned out it was a song by Hello, Blue Roses called Shadow Falls."

Both originals deserves a listen; elbo.ws has pretty good taste for a robot. And Ruby Isle's covers are far enough stylistically from the originals to make them interesting (there's nothing worse than a cover that's just an inferior version in the same style).

We posted the covers and linked to the originals:

-- Week 1 MP3s:

Hello Blue Roses - "Shadow Falls" (original)

Ruby Isle - "Shadow Falls" (cover)

-- Week 2 MP3s:

The Ravonettes - "Aly, Walk With Me"

Ruby Isle - "Aly, Walk With Me" (cover)
