San Francisco MOMA has found a neat way of presenting the work of award-winning British video artist Douglas Gordon. Instead of scheduling a series of screenings, Gordon's whole output is running at the same time in a blacked-out room artfully filled with monitors. I found it surprisingly effective. The work's called Pretty much every film and video work from about 1992 until now. To be seen on monitors, some with headphones, others run silently, and all simultaneously. And rather than pandemonium, it is compelling, in a proto-mashup kind of way.
