Legendary seventies band Led Zeppelin continues its march into the digital age, with the launch of an interactive concert timeline on LedZeppelin.com.
Every show, from Gladsaxe Teen Club, Denmark, September 7, 1968 to Eissporthalle, Berlin, July 7, 1980, is listed along with includes a setlist and the original flyer; fans can add their photos to the shows' photo sections, and reviews to the comments sections.
But fans can't add upload either to the discography section, which effectively prevents anyone under 45 or so from contributing photos and reviews (unless they attend the band's December 10th appearance at London's O2 Arena), because their only experience of the band would have been through its recordings. The NME wrote that the website "gives fans the chance to interact with the band," but other than a standard-issue forum, the timeline appears to be the site's only interactive feature.
For those wishing to learn more about the band, the site also offers some decent resources -- news, photos, and official merch -- and the interactive timeline could be great for people who attended the shows. But if the band's trying to attract new (i.e. younger) fans, it needs to let people post about songs and albums, and offer more of the features found on other social networks.
