The Motorola CEO who once famously quipped: "Screw the Nano. What the hell does the Nano do…" is on his way out, according to the Associated Press. After riding the success of the RAZR and then, well, and then not doing much of anything, Zander is supposedly leaving the company of his own volition.
"(It was) my date, my doing, my time frame," Zander told Reuters.
The infamous Nano remark wasn't the only Zander-issued gem, either. The man was actually adept at regularly inserting his foot into his mouth. In April, the Wall Street Journal ran a piece on Zander with the money quote "I love my job. I hate my customers" right above the headline.
And while Zander's hatred of his customers may be puzzling, his distaste for the Nano almost certainly stems from the fact that it was introduced at the same event the ROKR was. Of course, we all know how well the first "iTunes compatible phone" did. The Nano, on the other hand, I've heard it's doing quite well.
