The Airbox CM3 is a router like any other, except for the fact that it has a built-in 3G modem. Anywhere it has power and a tower within range, you have a WiFi hotspot.
Road trips and hotel rooms are the obvious application for the box, which has two ethernet ports and a serial port that hooks up to GPS equipment. The EVDO card stashed within offers up to 800 Kbps of sustained bandwidth: if fast internet isn't available, it gets what it can from 2G.
It's $500, and you gotta get your own data plan.
