Wired Writers: Porn's New Pizza Boys?

At Wired, the word “porn” gets thrown around a lot, in ways that have nothing to do with sex (and we prefer to keep it that way). We editors just love to use it when we’re referring to an object—or an abundance of objects—we just can’t get enough of, often to the point of shameless […]

Boogienights02347x337 At Wired, the word "porn" gets thrown around a lot, in ways that have nothing to do with sex (and we prefer to keep it that way). We editors just love to use it when we're referring to an object—or an abundance of objects—we just can't get enough of, often to the point of shameless (or is it shameful?) overkill. Our upcoming *Wired Test issue? Gadget-porn. July's Transformers *cover? Robot-porn. (And, while we're at it, 80's nostalgia-porn.) What we've never considered is, well, Wired-porn. Literally, a porn—in this case a terrible, horror-spoof porn film called Gay Friday Part 2that's making the rounds on YouTube—where the pivotal character is not a uniform-shucking Dirk Diggler, but a nebbishy *Wired *writer named Eric. Yes, it's as hot as it sounds. Which is not at all. What was behind the creative decision for this Eric the Wired Writer character? We'll leave that to the Buñuel of this booty movie to say. I, however, will say this: While funny, this is actually a snippet of an actual porn film. So, kids out of the room. And it is definitely NSFW (especially at Wired). Thanks (sort of) to a friend in LA for sending this to me. I'm presuming Part 1 was Jason and a fact-checker at the *Economist. *
