You'd think with the iPhone's price drop and the non-stop orgy of hate and adulation that has ensued, the iPhone would rank a bit higher than 15 on a "most coveted digital lifestyle products" survey.
Not so. According to a new survey put out Toronto-based Solutions Research Group, the hottest Apple-branded product this holiday season is…the laptop, which comes in at number 11 on the list (Strangely, the survey doesn't grace us with a specific model).
Granted, the fact that the MacBook and MacBook Pro are in demand isn't really much of surprise, considering recent mobile market growth figures and Apple's continuing market share victories over the past few quarters. What is surprising, however, is the fact that the iPod (in all its myriad forms) didn't even make it onto the group's survey of 1,200 American consumers. Does this mean everybody finally has one, or worse yet, that Apple's products are starting to cannibalize each other?
In the end, it probably doesn't matter. Apple is undoubtedly sitting pretty as we enter the shopping season with Leopard, and possibly other additions to Apple's lineup, coming in a matter of weeks. Indeed, as one of the survey authors points out, "while no individual Apple product ranked higher than #11 on the wish lists, when combined, Apple-branded technology products make it to the top 5 overall with one-in-six considering purchase, suggesting strong potential holiday season for the company."
