After a delay of close to two years, Singapore Airlines has at last taken delivery of the first available Airbus A380 superjumbo airliner — and what a piece of work it is. The airline has decked out its first double-decker with seats for 471 passengers — 399 economy class on both floors, 60 business class upstairs, and 12 fully enclosed luxury suites downstairs. The suites (photos after the break) feature sliding doors with privacy screens, full-size beds (two with double beds, in fact), and a 23-inch LCD entertainment system. (Take a look at Singapore Air's – video tour of the suites). The appointments and amenities are a laundry list of highbrow fare: leather by Poltrona Frau, pajamas and linens by Givenchy, toiletries by Ferragamo, and, naturally, refreshment by Dom Perignon and Krug. The cost? A suite on the airline's inaugural Singapore to Sydney route will run you a cool 10,500 Singapore dollars (close to $7,200) — about a third more than "regular" first-class.
