We couldn't resist sharing this unlikely – video of a Lada Niva catching air in a quarry, brought to our attention by a sharp-eyed Wired editor. Whether such heroics by vintage, Soviet-era iron are to be believed is beside the point: We want one. The Niva has a cult following around the world, particularly in Russia, where it remains that country's top-selling 4x4 (and among its most-stolen vehicles). Featuring a unitized body and a live-axle rear end, the little off-roader debuted in 1977 and is still sold, puzzling as it sounds, as the Chevrolet Niva, thanks to a joint venture between GM and Lada's parent company, Russia's No. 2 automaker, AvtoVaz.
