Toyota's iQ seems squarely aimed at the Smart ForTwo, though in fact, this car is advertised as a three-plus-one seater: two adults in the front and a teenager you want to get even with in the back. The passenger seat must be pulled forward to accommodate the third person. The microcar is nearly a yard shorter than the subcompact Yaris. It could go on sale in Europe by 2009. It's doubtful that the car will make Stateside, unless the ForTwo proves that there is a burning market for microcars.
