Conventional wisdom has suggested that the 80 GB PS3 will drop in price once all the 60 GB units are gone, but a new rumor hints that there be more to Sony's holiday plans. A mole tells [Opposable Thumbs](http://arstechnica.com/journals/thumbs.ars/2007/09/09/500-80gb-ps3-with-a-spiderman-3-blu-ray-pack-in-our-mole-lets-us-in-on-sonys-future-plans) that a 40 GB version of the PS3 will be joining its larger cousin on store shelves this holiday season at a price that won't break your bank.
The rumor is that the 80 GB's price will be cut to $499 with the new 40 GB model selling for $399. A Blu-ray version of Spider-Man 3 will be a pack-in with one, or both, which isn't really a selling point since the movie pretty much sucked. Meanwhile, the PS2 will be marked down to $99.
