Yesterday saw the departure of Yahoo advertising executive Greg Coleman who will be replaced by Hilary Schneider. Now sporting the title EVP of Global Partner Solutions, Schneider, known as a confidante of Yahoo boss Sue Decker, ran Yahoo classified, Yahoo Travel and HotJobs before taking on her new role. Along with the major ad exec move, an internal memo was revealed yesterday by The Wall Street Journal uncovering some of the reorganizing going on at Yahoo under Decker and co-founder Jerry Yang.
Decker wrote, "…Jerry and I and the rest of the management team have been taking a close look at our business -- from top to bottom -- and have been working hard to refine Yahoo!'s strategy and longer-term objectives. With that in mind, today I would like to tell you about a number of organizational changes that will help us achieve our goals…" The memo goes into great detail regarding staffing moves and organizational changes, which begs the question: Is Decker's memo leak a one-time aberration or a sign that there is a crisis of confidence surrounding the odd two-headed Yang and Decker management team?
