Via Technology, the miniaturization fiend behind Pico-ITX, has developed a CPU that uses less than 1 watt of power. Now, that's nothing special in and of itself; for example, your oven has a CPU that uses less than 1 watt of power. However, your oven does not run at 500 MHz, fast enough (yes, we'll see) to power an ultraportable laptop.

It's funny to think of a computer (or at least a part of a computer) that uses less energy than a night light. But then again, it's funny to think of a UMPC that has enough battery life to last a single working day, so there you go.
