Apple and AT&T have been pretty successful keeping the terms of the iPhone deal under wraps. But as European iPhone deal points continue to leak out, Wall Street analysts are using the information to project the numbers buried in the U.S. iPhone deal. In July Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster speculated that Apple snags around $8 per month for each new subscriber and $3 a month per AT&T iPhone subscriber.
If true, the U.S. terms offer Apple significant leverage in its negations with international cellular providers. But Steve Jobs might want to hurry up with the deal making, because unlocking the iPhone to use on competing networks like T-Mobile is becoming so easy even pimply teens are making it happen from the comfort of their New Jersey basements.
