The sun seemed to shine just a little brighter today after I stumbled across a very excellent new blog. Lest you become too excited by that "very excellent," let me preface its introduction with this: I (like many others) am beyond enchanted by oddly proportioned items like huge chess boards, teeny-tiny TVs, and, my personal favorite, the giant Anglepoise lamp (shown at right).

That said, I think all people will enjoy Comically Large Things. The site just went up this month, but CLT shows promise: besides finding a giant truck and giant slide rule, founder James has tracked down a giant donut. If only Homer could be here to see this:

Oh it's so divine. Kind of barf-worthy, but so, so divine.

While I am sure there are deep psychological reasons for why we like tiny/huge things, I personally trace my obsession back to Honey, I Shrunk the Kids. Who didn't want to slide down a blade of grass, battle giant insects, and swim in a bowl of cereal?
