Still smarting from the dozens of blogger beat-downs rained down upon him in response to his now infamous Mahalo-Beats-Google video, Robert Scoble decided to call us out for criticizing him yesterday. Scoble said, "I’m not laughing anymore, Wired. Why did you take a cheap shot and not link to anything else I’ve done for balance?" Simple: It's not our job to prove to everyone that you know what you're talking about, that's your job. Scoble had 30-plus minutes to do it in the video we linked, and everyone saw the result.
We'll also take this opportunity—so graciously afforded to us by Scoble—to point out that the source of his consternation possibly lies in the fact that we were the only blog that highlighted his odd negative-to-positive Mahalo flip-flop from Gnomedex. It would be nice to see a video explaining that.
Scoble's friend Dave Winer had it right today when he wrote, "So here's what you should do when you say something that's incorrect. As soon as you realize it, correct it." And, if you somehow still think your whiteboard and markers trump the logic of the blogosphere, at least take the lumps with a dose of self-deprecating good humor. As you can see here (video link), even Wired bloggers have their own "critics."
