New RAID Card for Mac Pro and Slimmer Airport Extreme

While everybody had their eyes on the new iMac and iLife suite, the man behind the curtain updated the Mac Mini (as Rob covered here), an upgraded Airport Extreme and an new $1000 RAID option for the Mac Pro. The Airport Extreme stays at the same $180 price point, but slims down a little, and the Mac Pro RAID card sits in a PCI-X slot and supports Enhanced JBOD, RAID 0 (striping), RAID 1 (mirroring), RAID 5 and RAID 0+1.

Mac Raid

Apple pushed out a few little extras yesterday. While everybody had their eyes on the new iMac and iLife suite, the man behind the curtain updated the Mac Mini (as Rob covered here), an upgraded Airport Extreme and an new $1000 RAID option for the Mac Pro.

The Airport Extreme stays at the same $180 price point, but slims down a little and gets gigabit ethernet, and the Mac Pro RAID card sits in a PCI-X slot and supports Enhanced JBOD, RAID 0 (striping), RAID 1 (mirroring), RAID 5 and RAID 0+1. There is an internal battery which will keep the 256MB RAID cache backed up for 72 hours. That means you can now spec your Mac Pro out to a wallet-wilting $13,100.
