Salty Silicon Alley Internet entrepreneur and author of "Burn Rate: How I Survived the Gold Rush Years on the Internet"__ __Michael Wolff has landed the deal to write the book documenting Rupert Murdoch’s $5 billion acquisition of the Dow Jones/Wall Street Journal.

On the business side, Wolff just launched a news aggregator called Newser that looks to combine the social media aspects of Digg with human curation of stories. For clues to Wolff's Internet savvy, it might help to remember that he's the same guy that said two years ago, "By all rights, 18 months from now we should be looking back at this and all kind of embarrassed to say the word blog—I hope."

The NY Post reports that Murdoch has agreed to cooperate with the author, which either means the usually fire-breathing Wolff has agreed to play nice, or Murdoch hasn’t read Wolff’s previous work.
