Some of the stories that ran today about the fact that Hwang Woo-Suk's unwitting human parthenogenesis achievement hinted that the Korean scientist had somehow redeemed himself, if only a little, after faking a study two years ago when he claimed to have cloned a human embryo.

How can finding out that you accomplished something, but you didn't notice it, make up for the fact that you lied to the whole world about a major scientific achievement -- not to mention that you paid women in your lab for their eggs when it was against the law in your country?

I don't get it -- if anything it makes him look just a little more ridiculous.
