G4TV television personality and game reviewer Morgan Webb has put her own video blog shingle out on the Web and (like her) the show looks pretty good. Webb is best known as one half of the witty game review team on the show “X-Play” on G4TV, a gig she won’t be leaving (yet). Her new independent show is called WebbAlert and is scheduled to appear daily. As for revenue, the site already sports prominent advertising, but Webb also had the wisdom to follow the lead of her fellow TechTV alumni Leo Laporte and Kevin Rose by adding a tip jar with one time donations or $5 monthly subscriptions.
Personally, I was a little surprised by this move. I expected Webb to eventually pop up on Revision3 with her old buddy Rose. But with the low cost of entry into the video space, it’s understandable that Webb would try sailing on her own first. Webb is smart, watchable, and credible, now we’ll just have to see if she has the stamina to keep a daily show going on her own along with her G4TV duties.
