Yup, it's the HTC Advantage X7501. We first spied this do it all device earlier this year and were floored by some of the specs:

  • Tri-band UMTS/HSDPA and quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE
  • Built-in GPS
  • Bluetooth 2.0 and Wi-Fi
  • 8GB hard drive with miniSD slot
  • 3 megapixel camera with auto focus and flash
  • 5-inch touch screen display and detachable QWERTY keyboard

Factor in the Advantage's cool looks and HTC's track record for creating quality machines, and you can see why we'd be excited. And now we have one. What secrets are contained in that box? Hit the jump and find out.

First up is the screen. So far so good, but where's the keypad and case? (And yes, those fingerprints belong to us. We couldn't resist touching — even before snapping a picture.)

P1010061

Ah here they are. (They were hiding in a secret chamber beneath the screen.) But wait, how do you attach the three together? There's no bolts, screws, or glue anywhere.

Step 1: Slide the screen into the case.

P1010071

Step 2: The keypad attaches magnetically.* Magnetically!* It's like we're living in some sort of magical future.

Step 3: You're ready to go. Power it on, fold it up, and go forth and enjoy the power of Windows Mobile 6.

With the screen on.

And here's the UI. First impressions? Very slick, very clean, and very intuitive. We'll have a full review up and posted in a day or two. Hold tight G-Labbers and let you know if the Advantage has any sort of edge on its competition.
