Some magic tricks never get old. The Wall Street Journal published a report today about the revival of Silicon Valley office space, but revealed that landlords haven’t learned their lesson from the Web 1.0 dot com blood bath.

The story states, *“Amid the revival, some tech companies have started using an old dot-com property tactic: paying their office landlords with stock options. Internet startup Riya Inc., for example, says it's paying its landlord partly in stock for a 5,000-square-foot commercial space in San Mateo, Calif.” *

That might be all well and good for Silicon Valley, but I can guarantee you that after the pounding Manhattan’s ruthless real estate market took years ago trying the same thing during Web 1.0, you won’t see this trend revisit Silicon Alley any time soon.
