Today, after much behind-the-scenes fanfare, social news site Digg unveiled a revamped home page. Just last week Digg founder Kevin Rose told users, "We’ll soon be rolling out improvements to the home page that allow you to see all content, including news and videos, on a single page we call 'All.'" Attempting to allay any concerns from veteran users stumbling upon the changes today, Digg's Daniel Burka (pictured right) said, "This update is also an especially important structural change for future content like images, which will also have its own dedicated section."

After spending a little time with the new site there seems to be little difference other than a new video ad on the front page, the ability to one-click bury stories and a couple of tiny tweaks to the navigation layout. Based on the the extreme care taken with the announcement and the lack of obvious groundbreaking changes, these changes are most likely architectural preparation for a slew of new Microsoft ads we heard about just last month.
