Cool Hunting – not to be confused with the strangely similar Cool Hunter – recently posted a pair of videos that chronicle the curious spider web-capturing adventures of a Mr. Emil "Rocky" Fiore. Cool Hunting tagged along on two web-finding missions and filmed, for the first time, exactly how Rocky creates his glass-mounted web art (shown at right). It’s a fascinating, calming process that, besides the glass, involves only spray paint and clear varnish. Rocky never elaborates on how he got into "webbing," only revealing that he’s been doing it for 30 years and perfecting his technique for a fair chunk of that.
If, like me, you’re a bit sensitive about living creatures/habitats/et al. and are already thinking, "But what about the spiders, Rocky, what about the SPIDERS?" check what the webmaster has to say:
Take this for what you will, but, by all means, make sure to stop by Rocky’s website – the righteously named Whirled Wide Webs – and watch the two videos. Get hooked on part one and catch part two after the jump.
