I edited a story by Mark Anderson recently on a cold fusion pow-wow at MIT. It was meant as a fun look at a population of die-hard, aging researchers who refuse to give up on a science that has been writen off by most scientists as well as the public.
Jennifer Oullette of Cocktail Party Physics saw the story as boosterish for cold fusion, and thought it insinuated a "conspiracy" against the field. We regret giving that impression. Read Oulette's post here, and the original Wired News story here.
