Richard Murphy, the former president of the Salk Institute in San Diego, is the new interim president of the California Institute of Regenerative Medicine, according to our roving reporter, David Jensen.
Murphy retired from Salk in July. He received praise for his leadership at Salk, where he expanded and renovated the research facilities (have you been there? It's gorgeous) and increased staff. So much for a relaxing retirement. Murphy faces significant challenges as head of the $3 billion stem cell institute, as detailed in our Wired News story here. Watch this space for more soon.
