Paul Nyhan, Family and Parenting reporter for the Seattle Post-Intelligencer and author of the smart blog Working Dad, posted about research that says the math/science gender gap often begins at home...specifically, with fathers.

"They found that girls' interest in math decreases as their fathers' gender stereotypes increase, whereas boys' interest in math increases as their fathers' gender stereotypes increase," the University of Michigan said in a statement about the research.

I don't imagine this to be much of an issue among GeekDad readers (and the blog post's title is rather overblown), but it's interesting to note.
