Paul Pope has a luscious new monograph out from AdHouse books called PulpHope that delves deep into his sketchbook, fashion, comic, essay and illustration work. I profiled Pope last year in the magazine, while he was putting the finishing touches on Batman: Year 100, work for which he picked up two Eisner Awards this past weekend at Comic-Con. The 228-page book is by turns erotic, futuristic and manifesto-like, offering complete access into the philosophy, influences and work process of an artist/writer who has given us seminal graphic novels such as Heavy Liquid, THB and 100%. The survey includes everything from hilarious childhood drawings such as Batman chasing Godzilla to peeks of future graphic novels like Battling Boy and design work for bands like Yeah Yeah Yeahs, White Stripes and Nick Cave.
