It seems college students are gravitating toward online courses like sharks to chum, and who can blame them given the opportunity it presents to crack a textbook, phone a friend or perform a Web search for test answers. Well, this fall Alabama's Troy University is going to crack down on potential cheaters with a device that requires fingerprint ID; locks down the computer during the test, preventing students from searching the Web; and features a Web cam that keeps a 360-degree eye on the test taker. The device will be rolled out to grad students's homes first, and undergrads's later in the year.
