Now that Table of Malcontents is winding down, I thought that a few of the last rattling gasps to be ushered from its throat ought to go towards acknowledging a lot of the blogs that I have really appreciated during my tenure here.
Blogging, after all, is often a recursive circle of regurgitation: I digest the content of blogs I like, then vomit it back up for my readers, my contribution being the gastric juices of my added opinions and the filtering out any waste products through a sort of mental defecation (though I'll be the first to admit I sometimes get my pipes mixed). Now that I'm wandering off, it seems like I should give proper thanks to the chefs of the tables at which I've been dining.
So every day for the next two weeks I'll be highlighting one of the blogs of which I'm a regular reader, in the hopes that you guys will start following them as well. Today, I'd like to express my fondness for the bizarre Japanese curiosity blog Hugo Strikes Back!
Despite the fact that I do not even begin to grok the language in which he blogs, Hugo posts at least two or three things a day I'd like to steal, and often do. With a remarkable eye for gorgeous art work and lurid imagery, Hugo lets his images blog for him, capturing my interest and fascination with a bare minimum of text. If you see dogs in gas masks or vaginal vasts on ToM's front page any time soon (and you will), I got them through Hugo.
Incidentally, you know you've found a blog worth reading religiously when an entire section of it is devoted to Alice in Wonderland Illustrations by Artists Other Than Sir John Tenniel. If you have liked ToM, make sure to go on over to Hugo Strikes Back! and check him out. You won't be disappointed.
