Check it out – towards the end of this extended preview for the new Bionic Woman series from NBC, we catch a glimpse of the Big Bad and it's none other than Katie Sackoff, the tomboy hottie who played Starbuck on Battlestar Galactica. She calls herself "the first bionic woman," and there's some major bionic-on-bionic asskicking about to happen. This is good news for fans already excited about the new cyber-lady show from BSG co-creator David Eick.
But there's some bad news – or at least confusing news – contained in this trailer too. Remember last November, when Eick told us that Bionic Woman would "explore the role of professional women in contemporary society and how they juggle their various roles"?
Sounds like that promise went the way of all promises to smash the glass ceiling. In the clip from NBC, Jamie Sommers says, "I'm a bartender and a dropout." Huh? Obviously somebody decided to dial back her coolness. Can't make her too uppity, after all. If a woman is gonna be super-powered, she's gotta be a dropout. Nobody would believe a woman who is both professionally successful and ultra-strong right? All I can say to that is: She-Hulk, smash!
