n. A position proposed by the Bush administration to coordinate actions in Iraq and Afghanistan. Lt. Gen. Douglas Lute was chosen after several candidates declined.

Nanohealing
v. Using nanoscale biochemical reactions to jump-start natural healing. Meshes of engineered peptides, for example, can stanch bleeding or provide a scaffolding for new neurons to repair brain damage.

Wilf
n. An imperfect acronym for "What was I looking for?" Wilfers spend up to a third of their online time drifting from news to shopping to porn sites.

Optical Cloaking
n. Invisibility on demand, achieved by bending light around an object using nanoscale needles. Current designs have one limitation: They work only for the color red.
