I took Sprint's new smartphone with me on the commuter train, hoping someone might mistake it for an iPhone, snap some secretive pics of me, and post them on Gizmodo. No one was even remotely fooled. The Media Mogul is smart all right, but its basaltic gray exterior and uniformly horrible selection of display themes fall well short of sexy. (The ridged pattern on the back is nicely ergonomic, though, and its keyboard slides open and closed with a pleasing solidity.) As moguls go, Sprint's device is more like shambling geek George Lucas than the suave, mustachioed Ted Turner or the nearly omnipotent Rupert Murdoch.

Ugly. Excessive input options -- buttons, keyboard, stylus, voice -- leave you more confused than satisfied. Slow camera shutter speed. What, only 2 megapixels?
