It's not often we see a key fob that's sexier than the car it unlocks. But that's the case with the Volvo S80's Personal Car Communicator (PCC). It doesn't just lock/unlock the car doors remotely, it also gives you a security status report when you approach the vehicle: different LEDs can tell you at a range of 60 to 100 meters if the car is locked or not (great for the OCD afflicted), if someone has tampered with the car, and even if there is an intruder inside, thanks to a heartbeat sensor. With the touch of a button, the PCC will also illuminate all the cars interior and exterior lights for increased safety in unsupervised parking spots.
