As reported in The Age, Russia launched a satellite today that will test the strength of inflatable structures planned to be used to build the world's first space hotel.

The $500 million hotel is being funded by Las Vegas hotel tycoon, Robert Bigelow, who wants to open the airlock for his hotel by 2015.

The Genesis-2 is the second satellite to be launched, the previous was sent up last year.It was shot into orbit by a Dnepr rocket designed for intercontinental ballistic missiles.
