Motorola’s track record for combining sophistication with durability isn’t great. (See: RAZR.) But they redeem themselves with the MC35. This PDA/cell phone hybrid not only houses a speedy Intel 416 MHz processor, but also withstood 3 consecutive 6-foot drops and a splash of beer without any loss in performance. We would have liked more RAM and a higher res screen—especially for the price. But it’s hard to complain, given the inclusion of EDGE, 802.11(b and g), and Bluetooth connectivity, solid push email performance, and extras like an integrated flashlight. —Terrence Russell
