This video for "Humans are Dead," a song about the robot uprising that contains an awesome binary solo of heartfelt ones and zeroes, is definitely the best geek humor of the year, if not the post-apocalypse. It's from the first episode of HBO's comedy folk music series Flight of the Conchords, whichmay have some lackluster plotting, but contains some of the best musical comedy I've seen in years. Bret McKenzie and Jemaine Clement, the Kiwis who play daffy versions of themselves on Flight of the Conchords, are a real comedy duo from New Zealand who have been touring Fringe Festivals and comedy clubs with their filk-ish songs for years. Their songs are the only good thing about the HBO series so far – the setup, which has Bret and Jemaine coming to New York to make it as singers, is mostly just second-rate Judd Apatow humor without the great one-liners. Still, I'll give the show a chance. Any group who could write "Humans are Dead" definitely has something to offer the world. Watch all the way to the end to catch the binary solo!
