British papers are reporting that BBC geek Russell T. Davies may quit Doctor Who in 2008, leaving the "creator" seat open to another person. Maybe it's time for Doctor Who to get some fresh blood, but I'm anxious because I've really loved the way Russell T. has brought a zany sensibility to the Doctor, as well as a sort of boppy, queer feeling to the whole endeavor (especially with bisexual-o-riffic spinoff Torchwood). Plus, Russell T. is good fan -- he may have been busy making episodes in the wildly popular series Queer as Folk, but he still managed to mainline enough Doctor Who that he has a regular column in Doctor Who Magazine. So awesome!
Still, like I said, fresh blood might be nice. We could get rid of campy David Tennant and possibly bring in a slightly darker character, somebody who is more like the "mad scientist" version of the Doctor from the 1960s. Also, I think we need some Ice Warriors, people. Seriously. Look how great they are (at left).
