Moving headlights have been around for years. Even the old Citroën DS had them back in 1967. The idea is simple: When you move the steering wheel, the lights swivel in the direction you point the wheels, helping you see into oncoming corners.
Of course, everything old becomes new again, usually with an electronic twist. Now Japanese company Denso has tied the lights to mapping software with it's Navi Kyocho Adaptive Front-lighting System (AFS). It is hooked up to your car's satellite navigation and uses the info, along with the car's speed, to point the lights exactly where you need them.
It would be great if they automatically pointed away from oncoming traffic, but I'm sure the Japanese are courteous enough to do that themselves. We won't be seeing this for up to five years, but maybe the tech will see it's way into the next Grand Theft Auto. I can't tell you how many times the cops have caught me up to no good in some dark alley.
